Meet the Instructor

Cassie Whitt, PhD
Assistant Professor
Eastern Kentucky University
Dr. Cassie Whitt (she/her/hers) is a social psychologist and Assistant Professor of Psychology at Eastern Kentucky University. An advocate for inclusive, engaging pedagogy, her teaching is principally guided by a concept known as anagnorisis. It is a Greek term that means “a change from ignorance to knowledge.” In many ways, her goals as both a scientist and an educator align with anagnorisis. She encourages her students to seek truth about the social world in which they live, recognizing that a central objective in doing so is to facilitate the transformative process of shifting from ignorance – about ourselves and other people – to critical understanding.
